What is gotoTalks?

gotoTalks is a platform that lets you take the stage—on your terms:
  • You pick everything: the topic, the location, the date and time, and how long it lasts.
  • You also decide who’s in the audience and how big it is. It could be your friends, coworkers, or even complete strangers. In fact, speaking in front of people you don’t know can actually help if you’re nervous about public speaking—it can reduce the pressure. And of course, the more you practice, the better you’ll get.
  • There are two types of events you can host: Standard or Gold. With a Standard Event, attendees might just be interested in what you’re talking about or want to support your speaking journey. A Gold Event is a bit different—you pay each attendee $10 per hour. Why would you do that? Lots of reasons:
    • You’re promoting a product or idea and want live feedback.
    • You have a high-stakes presentation (maybe you're a Wall Street banker) and need to rehearse it in front of real people.
    • You’re shy and want to seriously invest in getting better at public speaking.
    • And from the audience’s side, getting paid to attend a talk is a pretty strong incentive—especially for people like students, stay-at-home parents, part-timers, or anyone looking for extra cash. As the speaker, it’s a great way to make sure people actually show up.
  • gotoTalks isn’t like Toastmasters. Toastmasters is a paid membership club with formal meetings and a classroom-style setup, which can feel intimidating. With gotoTalks, you’re in charge: choose your topic, how you interact with the audience, and set the vibe however you like.
Here’s a simple idea: Let’s say you’re a parent and your 14-year-old daughter struggles with speaking in front of others. Set up a Standard or Gold Event just for her. Have her read—and eventually perform Shakespeare’s “Sonnet 55” or Robert Frost’s “Fire and Ice”. If she does this three times a week for two months, you’ll see a major transformation in her confidence.
